Privacy Policy
Last updated 23 June 2026
Family Conflict Institute is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and store it, and the choices you have, in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
1. Who we are
In this policy, “FCI”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Family Conflict Institute, which operates this website at familyconflictinstitute.com.au. The nationally recognised training offered under the Family Conflict Institute brand is delivered and assessed by Archer Institute Pty Ltd (RTO #45020), the registered training organisation responsible for that training. Where you enrol in a program, your information may be shared with Archer Institute so your training and assessment can be delivered.
We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
2. The information we collect
We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for our functions and activities as a training provider. Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:
- Contact details such as your name, email address, phone number and postal address.
- Enquiry and enrolment information such as the course you are interested in, your educational background, qualifications, and prior experience relevant to entry requirements.
- Training records such as your Unique Student Identifier (USI), assessment results, work placement records, and progress through your program.
- Payment information needed to process fees and payment plans. Card payments are handled by our payment providers, and we do not store full card numbers.
- Website and technical information such as your IP address, browser type and pages visited, collected through cookies and analytics when you use our website.
3. How we collect your information
We collect personal information in a number of ways, including when you:
- complete an enquiry or contact form on our website;
- email, call or otherwise communicate with our team;
- apply for or enrol in one of our programs;
- use the student portal or take part in your training and assessment; or
- browse our website, through cookies and similar technologies.
Where it is reasonable and practical, we collect personal information directly from you. In some cases we may collect it from a third party, for example a work placement host or a referee, with your knowledge.
4. Why we collect and use your information
We use your personal information to:
- respond to your enquiries and provide the information you ask for;
- assess your eligibility and process your enrolment;
- deliver your training, assessment and work placement, and support you through it;
- administer fees, payment plans and your student account;
- meet our obligations as a training provider, including reporting and compliance requirements; and
- improve our website, services and communications, and let you know about programs that may be relevant to you.
You can opt out of marketing communications at any time by using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by contacting us.
5. Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with third parties only where it is necessary for the purposes described above, including:
- Archer Institute Pty Ltd (RTO #45020), the registered training organisation that delivers and assesses the nationally recognised training;
- Government and regulatory bodies, where required or authorised by law. As nationally recognised training is involved, this can include the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER), and the Unique Student Identifier (USI) Registrar;
- Service providers who help us operate, such as our learning platform, payment processors, email and IT providers, who are only permitted to use your information to provide their services to us; and
- Work placement hosts and supervisors, where you undertake a work placement as part of your program.
We may also disclose information where required by law, a court or tribunal, or to protect the safety of any person.
6. Disclosure outside Australia
Some of our service providers may store or process information on servers located outside Australia. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
7. Cookies and website analytics
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to help the site work, remember your preferences and understand how the site is used. You can set your browser to refuse cookies or to alert you when cookies are being sent, though some parts of the site may not function properly if you do.
8. How we store and protect your information
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. This includes access controls, secure systems and staff awareness. We retain personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes we collected it, or as required by law and our obligations as a training provider, after which we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.
9. Accessing and correcting your information
You have the right to ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. To make a request, please contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request, and there are some limited situations where we may not be able to give access, in which case we will explain why.
10. Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
